  • Dr. Jon Barber, O.D.

    Doctor of Optometry

    Dr. Jon Barber, O.D. offers eye exams at University Opticians. A Florida native, he has been practicing Optometry for over 30 years. He provides quality personalized eye care for children and adults. Dr. Barber is also a behavioral optometrist, with an understanding of the environment and nutritional aspects of the visual system and the eyes. He is a progressive optometrist, continuing to enrich his learning on visual treatment and diagnosis, including contact lens exams and prescriptions for a variety of eye conditions. Dr. Barber specializes in custom multifocal contact lens fittings, including lenses that correct for astigmatism and presbyopia.

    Doctors of Optometry (O.D.s/optometrists) are the independent primary health care professionals for the eye. Optometrists examine, diagnose, treat, and manage diseases, injuries, and disorders of the visual system, the eye, and associated structures as well as identify related systemic conditions affecting the eye.

  • Fredrik D. Wood, M.B.A., L.D.O., A.B.O.C., N.C.L.C.

    Board Certified Optician

    Fredrik began working at University Opticians in November of 1985. In the years since, Fredrik has experienced all aspects of running an optical business and learned how to provide customers with solutions to all their eyeglass and contact lens needs. Fredrik is a Board Certified Optician under the Florida Department of Health. By 1993, Fredrik had also pursued and secured national certification with the American Board of Opticianry (ABOC) and the National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLC). Through attending seminars and trade shows and maintaining close contact with optical product manufacturers, Fredrik maintains a current knowledge in the field including the latest in lens technology, contact lens fitting, sports eyewear, safety eyewear, pediatrics, diving masks, and the custom fitting of ptossis crutches.

  • Josh Kimble, L.D.O., A.B.O.C., N.C.L.C.

    Board Certified Optician

    Josh began working at University Opticians in March of 2011. Since, he has become a Board Certified Optician under the Florida Department of Health. By 2019, Josh had also pursued and secured national certifications with the American Board of Opticianry (ABOC) and the National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLC). Through helping customers here for over 10 years, Josh is the “go-to” for anything from frame repairs to frame fittings.
